The App that every smart phone should have!

The App that every smart phone should have!

In doing some research for my blog, I came across this App from the American Red Cross.

There are several Apps that the Red Cross provides, all free, from First Aid to Hurricane preparedness.  I tested out the First Aid App, and for anyone who has not been trained in First Aid or even as a reference for those that have, this App is a must have.

The App has a simple design and is broken down into four sections.

Learn: Here you can learn about the different types of aliments and how to treat them. Most sections even have a short video instructing one how to preform first aid.

Prepare: While not geared towards first aid, this section does provide basic guidelines for preparing for emergencies.  Each section provides a "before" checklist and steps to follow during and after an event.

Emergency: This section gets to the down and dirty of what needs to be done during a first aid emergency.  Each is a checklist with simple instructions to follow.

Test:  This is a fun little section for those new to first aid. Here you can test your new skills.

While I think the App is great there is one area that I would like to see improved. The App is currently designed for the iPhone and does work well on an iPad. However, it would be nice to have an App designed for both.  I just hate to have to utilize the zoom function to use the App on the iPad.

Zooming aside, this is a tool that can save a life and with the free price tag there is no reason not to have a copy installed on your phone. Make sure to spread the word and share this App with your friends and family.
